AAA Custom Bars for NinjaTrader 8
AAA Trading Systems custom bar types provide alternative ways of organizing price movement and market activity inside NinjaTrader 8. By changing how chart bars are constructed, custom bars can help traders view market behavior from a different perspective than traditional time-based or standard price bars.
Available Custom Bar Types
SASR Adaptive Bars
SASR Adaptive Bars are tick-based, non-time-based synthetic range bars designed to organize price movement using separate trend and reversal thresholds. The T setting controls the trend distance in ticks, B controls the synthetic body/open offset, and the % setting expands the reversal distance relative to the trend distance. When price exceeds the active range boundary, SASR completes the current bar and begins a new synthetic bar based on the direction of the move. This provides a configurable way to view price movement and directional changes without requiring bars to close at fixed time intervals.
AAA Predictive Brick Minute Bars
AAA Predictive Brick Minute Bars combine traditional time-based minute bars with an integrated predictive brick-level chart display. Each bar retains its normal minute-based open, high, low, and close while the custom chart style plots configurable price levels above and below that bar’s open. The trader selects the minute interval, brick size in ticks, and the number of base levels displayed on each side. Additional levels can automatically extend as the bar’s price range expands, providing a visual framework of evenly spaced price references directly on the chart without requiring a separate indicator.

How the Two Bar Types Differ
SASR Adaptive Bars change how the bars themselves are constructed. They are tick-based and non-time-based, so a new bar forms when price exceeds the configured trend or reversal range rather than when a fixed amount of time expires. AAA Predictive Brick Minute Bars work differently: the underlying bars remain time-based minute bars, while the custom chart style adds predictive brick reference levels around each bar’s open. This gives traders two distinct approaches—an alternative price-driven bar structure with SASR, or familiar minute bars enhanced with configurable brick-level references.
Both custom bar types are designed for NinjaTrader 8. Availability and behavior may depend on the selected instrument, market-data connection, trading-hours template, and chart configuration. Traders should test their preferred settings before using the bars in live trading or automated strategies.
